You've already dismissed scrivener - the obvious choice. The Corkboard is a powerful tool for outlining your manuscript, organizing key storytelling beats, and getting a birds-eye-view of your work. I cannot recommend any of the desktop apps that take this skeuomorphic cork board idiom and bring it to the desktop.
